Common Name: Lenten Rose
Latin Name: Helleborus orientalis 'Pine Knot Strain'
Brand: Pine Knot Farms
Description:
A beautiful seed strain of Lenten Rose, Helleborus 'Pine Knot Strain' produces an extraordinary variety of bloom colors and forms—from deep slate purples and rich pinks to whites, yellows, and bicolor picotees. Flowers are mostly single but may be semi-double or double. Blooming in late winter through mid-spring, this evergreen perennial provides much-needed color during the dormant months and thrives as a low-maintenance groundcover in shady garden areas. Once established, it is drought tolerant, deer- and rabbit-resistant, and happily naturalizes over time.
Care Tips:
Plant in part shade to full shade with protection from harsh afternoon sun. Prefers moist, organic-rich, well-drained soil. Remove tattered foliage in late winter before new growth emerges. Avoid overwatering and provide good air circulation to prevent disease. Self-sows lightly—cut back foliage if seedling spread is not desired.
