Common Name: Dwarf Fountain Grass
Latin Name: Pennisetum alopecuroides 'Hameln'
Brand: Monrovia
Description:
A compact ornamental grass known for its soft, fluffy, buff-colored plumes that arch gracefully above a mound of narrow green foliage. The blooms appear in late summer and last into fall, providing contrast and texture to mixed beds and borders. In autumn, the foliage turns a beautiful golden-yellow, adding seasonal interest. Its smaller size makes it ideal for containers, borders, and mass plantings.
Care Tips:
Prefers full sun and well-drained soil. Avoid wet or clay-heavy soils. Water deeply and regularly during the first growing season to establish a strong root system, then reduce frequency. Cut back in late winter to early spring before new growth appears and apply a general-purpose fertilizer.
