The Hibiscus ‘Summerific® Edge of Night’ is a bold, tropical-looking hardy hibiscus prized for its dramatic jet-black foliage and enormous bubblegum pink blooms. Large 7–8 inch flowers feature darker pink veining and overlap beautifully against the deep burgundy-black leaves, creating a striking contrast in the summer garden. Blooming from midsummer into early fall, this compact yet vigorous perennial delivers nonstop color while attracting hummingbirds, butterflies, and other pollinators.
This hardy rose mallow grows in a rounded, mounding habit reaching about 3–4 feet tall and 4–5 feet wide, making it perfect as a focal point, backdrop planting, or statement container specimen. Unlike tropical hibiscus, ‘Edge of Night® is winter hardy in USDA Zones 4–9 and dies back to the ground each winter before returning vigorously in spring.
Plant in full sun for the darkest foliage color and best flowering performance. It thrives in moist, well-drained soil and tolerates heat, humidity, and brief drought once established.
