Common Name: Firepower Nandina
Latin Name: Nandina domestica 'Firepower'
Brand: None.
Description:
A compact, colorful evergreen, Firepower Nandina delivers vibrant foliage from season to season. Its lime to golden-green spring and summer leaves transition to brilliant fire-red as fall and winter arrive, lighting up the landscape with year-round interest. With no pruning required, excellent drought tolerance, and high adaptability, this low-maintenance shrub is a go-to for borders, group plantings, and accent color in foundation beds. Despite its nickname "Heavenly Bamboo," it is not a true bamboo—but offers a similarly upright, structured habit.
Care Tips:
Plant in full sun to part shade in well-drained soil. Water deeply upon planting and 1–2 times per week during the first few months. Once established, Firepower Nandina is highly drought tolerant. Apply a 2–3" layer of mulch around the base to retain moisture and regulate temperature. Fertilize in spring with a slow-release balanced fertilizer. Can be pruned at any time, but seldom needs it.
